HEALTH INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR MEDICARE-ELIGIBLE RETIREES

The Open Enrollment period for Medicare-eligible retirees is November 16 - November 30, 2009. UNM Human Resources will mail Information packets to eligible retirees on November 10. 

The UNM RA Benefits Committee has prepared a document that compares the health insurance plans being offered for 2010 to Medicare-eligible retirees.  Click here to access that document.

Open Enrollment Briefings will be held by Presbyterian and by Lovelace.

The two UNM/Presbyterian Health Plan Open Enrollment Briefings will be held at the Presbyterian Northside Urgent Care Center, 5901 Harper NE. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The second briefing is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The two UNM/Lovelace Senior Plan Open Enrollment Briefings will be held at the Women’s Hospital, Auditorium A, 4701 Montgomery Blvd. NE. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, starting at 9 a.m. The second briefing is set for Thursday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m.

BENEFITS OF BELONGING TO THE UNM RETIREE ASSOCIATION

• Informational updates on new policies or changes in policies affecting UNM retirees.
  
• The Retiree Newsletter which highlights activities of the Association and pertinent information for UNM retirees.
  
  
• Invitations to speaker events and small group programs.
  
  
• Benefits update. The UNMRA will stay informed of any proposed changes in benefits for retirees. If the changes are beneficial, they will be supported. If they are not, we will work with university authorities to make necessary changes.

• Opportunities for formal and informal interactions with other retirees such as the annual membership meeting and the monthly coffee time at Denny's.  Business matters of the Association are deliberated at the annual meeting.  Usually scheduled on the first Thursday of the month, the coffee time serves as a personal communication vehicle among members. Other discussion groups will be formed as requested.
